Rural America, Main Street

Rural America is struggling. Main street is struggling. Small towns are struggling. Small businesses are struggling. The economy is small and lackluster.

These are the cold hard facts. This is the harsh reality. The truth hurts.

I grew up in a small town. It hurts me to think and write about it. It’s a hard pill for me to swallow.

It’s a shame people must leave their hometowns because there aren’t enough decent jobs and the areas aren’t able to support businesses.

It’s a shame people must leave their family and friends.

All great things come to an end.

I want to stay. I want to change the area. I want to turn it around.

I want to help the area. I want to better the area.

I want to help make positive changes. I want to make a difference. I want to have a positive impact.

Can I make a difference? Can one person make a difference? Is the problem too big to solve? Are we too far gone?
